Denison Redemption opened its doors in September of 2007. It is owned and operated by WESCO Industries. WESCO decided to open the redemption center to meet the community’s need for a can and bottle redemption center when the only redemption center in Denison closed its doors.
The redemption center is very accessible to the public especially since it is just located one block off of Highway 30. It is also a handicap accessible building with plenty of parking for all its customers. The sorting and counting of all the cans and bottles is primarily done by individuals with disabilities. The individuals with disabilities are learning work skills through their employment at the redemption center that will assist them in gaining community employment in the future.
Denison Redemption requests that customers ensure that their cans and bottles are clean in order to help maintain a clean facility. The redemption center requests that all cans and bottles be counted and in clear plastic bags. For convenience, the redemption center will sell customers clear bags to return their cans and bottles in.
Denison Redemption also offers a pickup service for both in town and out of town customers. The business can simply call and schedule for the redemption center to come and pick up their cans and bottles for a nominal fee and then receive the deposit for all their cans and bottles.
In addition to cans and bottles, Denison Redemption also accepts clean newsprint, clean paper and cardboard. These items are recycled and used for a variety of purposes which include pet bedding and packaging materials.
